Board-Certified by both The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery, Dr. Tran practices all aspects of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a specialized interest in breast reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
Her academic excellence and humanitarian service began at an early age, and won her the University of California Regents’ Scholarship to attend the #1-ranked public university: UC Berkeley. She graduated, with Honors and a B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology in just three years. Dr. Tran then went on to UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she was inspired by the mentors and patients she met during her clinical rotations to pursue postgraduate training in the reconstructive surgical care of breast cancer patients. After completing the full General Surgery residency at UC San Francisco-Fresno, Dr. Tran was accepted to the prestigious Multidisciplinary Breast Surgery Fellowship at Yale University, where she learned the complete 360o care for the breast cancer patients. Dr. Tran then continued her education and further honed her surgical skills in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tulane University, where she trained under one of the pioneers of DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) flap breast reconstruction. She was also mentored by several world-renown leaders in cosmetic plastic surgery, who taught her that a firm foundation in reconstructive techniques and strong grasp of anatomy are essential in achieving the best cosmetic results. Dr. Tran’s understanding and utilization of this principle guide her to achieve excellent cosmetic results for the patients in her practice.
Throughout all her education and training, Dr. Tran participated in numerous basic science and clinical research projects; presented her work at national meetings; and published in well-respected journals including the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Furthermore, philanthropic pursuits continued to be a priority in her life via numerous fundraising and grants review activity, i.e. for Susan G. Komen Foundation, as well as providing free breast exams to underserved women and working with UCI breast surgeons to ensure indigent/uninsured women are given the same reconstructive options and standard of care as all other women in our community.
Dr. Tran seamlessly integrates compassionate bedside manner, up-to-date evidence-based medicine, artistic vision, and exceptional skills in providing individualized treatment plans to optimize outcomes for all her patients.
